Free Speech or Not

There has been an incident in Greene and Christian Counties over whether an FBI visit to a local Christian County Blogger who ran the "Long is Wrong" website during the past election, that is taking many sides. His blog was critical of Billy Long, our newly elected Congressman who is taking Roy Blunts spot.
Reading what the Springfield paper has to say, listening to KSPR news, and reading all the posts surrounding this incident, makes me wonder whether we have free speech or not?

New to this incident? Billy Long gave Capital Police the name(s) of people who he felt threatened by (in lieu of the shotting in Arizonia).

Sheriff Arnott of Greene County went with FBI agent to blogger's home (in Christian county) and sat through the interview which was recorded by the blogger.

I read over 140 threads about this in the Springfield paper and have a few comments.

First I seldom get involved with opinioning my thoughts on political matters, my retirement and my job are Federal, but I feel this needs to be expounded upon:

The real question is still unanswered.

I live in Lawrence County, if Sheriff Jim Arnott from Greene County came to my door with an FBI agent or any Federal agency, I would politely ask him to explain why he was in my County, and then before allowing entry to my property, I would call my Sheriff and get him and the Highway Patrol and the County Commissioners to come over and be here for the visit.

If the FBI and Arnott have to sit in their car waiting, well so be it.

The bottom question is: What jurisdiction does Arnott cover? Why was he in Christian County? Why didn't he notify CC Sheriff? Who was paying his wages and whose vehicle did they use (all over news about not enough money for GC Sheriff's office)?

The Capitol Police will never release why someone's name was released as a threat!

I enjoyed reading the blog "Long is Wrong", The Busplunge's Blog and the Springfield newspaper, so I was better versed in who was running for Congress. The TV stations and Newspapers lack the indepth annalysis that used to be the best place to find information.

Unfortunately, we (the majority) elected another "Roy Blunt Clone". Not even in DC a month and already having wine tasting parties that you can attend, if you have money! Hey Billy, when will you dump your wife for a young sexy chick so you can really follow Roy's ways?

Now that I've made statements against Long and Ole Roy, I await the FBI's visit to my farm, where the sign says .............................!

What happens in DC, shouldn't stay in DC, but be known to all.

Long Time No Write

Well, I haven't been plagued with writer's cramps, or brain farts, or not being in the mood.
I just haven't taken time to write latey, as I have been busy.
Not as busy as the Bus, or the Jeep, or the Longroof, but been doing lots in the cold.

Finally got both tractors rebuilt. Yep, long and hard work, forgotten how hard it is to make pieces and to weld (when the metal doesn't want to be welded), and to put everything back without have any left over parts.
Today was perfect, didn't need a heater in the Ford Garage, and got the tractor put back together with only one snag... my noble assistant wasn't around to help, so I got the boy (Derrick - Steph's friend) to help me. Things go easier when there are two working a project.

Last weekend, the wife and I made a trip to KC to look at a 52 Cabover with a dump bed. But alas, it didn't work out.

Also, due to the cold, the chickens haven't been laying eggs, so early this morning the Boy and I filled all the huge holes in the chicken coop north wall with expando foam. When we built the chicken coop, we used green boards I had milled from a large tree, and well now that wood has finally dried out and shrunk. I am still pealing that foam off my fingers. But at least the chickens will sleep warmer tonight.

I am now looking at the Farmall Super C to determine how big a project it will be to make it parade ready. And the Bronco will soon have smaller tires. The big 33 inchers are boss looking, but with manual steering, the are a pain to turn. Also makes the Bronc too tall, and I need a ladder to get into it.

Lots of things going on when the weather doesn't allow outside work.

So tomorrow and Monday and Tuesday (yes I have Monday off, and taking vacation day on Tuesday) I can spend cleaning the Ford Garage.... amazing how much oil, grease and dirt ends up on the floor when rebuilding something.

So enjoy yourselves and don't party too much this weekend.

More later, and of course I forgot to take pictures, so if weather cooperates tomorrow, may get some pics of the two tractors, the bulldozer in my front yard, and who knows what.....

Holy Moses, I can't believe my ears or my eyes.

Did I hear correctly that the Temperature yesterday morning as 28 degrees in Daytona Beach, Fla. Birthplace of Speed and home of blue hairs???????????

I know temp on my back porch yesterday was 30............

SO IT FINALLY HAPPENED........

IT WAS COLDER IN FLORIDA THAN IN MISSOURI......

Glad the Barngoddess1 and I put off our Florida vacation to April instead of this week.

Finally catching up

Well I am finally catching up on my writings, but first a big big birthday celebration to the #1 son of Robert G and Mary L Lee.

Happy Birthday you old coot, have another one from the Tiki Bar and take a dip in the pool.

So while my older brother gets older, I will fill you in on some of the doings around here lately.

You remember the post about the maiden voyage? well that tractor is back in the Ford Garage getting another overhaul. Yep, my able daughter, my noble assistant and Derrick have been transferring features from our old tractor to the new tractor - little things that make it easier to drive.

So here are a couple pics of the goings on


this one shows Derrick under the new tractor putting the hydraulic filter cover back in. This is the replacement so the loader hydraulics can be connected.



Steph and I are preparing the new tractor to receive the new battery box-dash which replaces the rusted out old battery box.

So progress on Tuesday evening came to a screeching halt when this old Horsefarmer did something wrong, not sure what, but my back gave out again, and I couldn't lift the wires to hook to the battery. So for the past three days, it's ice, heat, ice and just laying around resting.

Went to the Doc today, x-rays, prodding, pushing, tapping, punching, stretching, = you know all that stuff the Docs do to see if it hurts and where it hurts.
Heck just sitting here it hurts.....
anyway somehow I sprained my lower back again.

Needless to say, no traveling to look at a bunch of 60's mopar vehicles at auction, no working on the tractors, no nothing.........
lay around with ice, heat, ice for the weekend.

Danged if it ain't hard getting old.

So hopefully, Monday I'll be able to move about without a lot of painkillers in my system.

So enjoy your weekend.

At least I can still enjoy the company of the Barngoddess1 and our kids and grandkids.

Maiden Voyage

So it is Saturday, December 4, 2010, and at 1:20 it is still warm here in the Ozarks, temp hovering around 40 degrees since 7 am this morning.

Have been working on the new tractor, and finally got it ready for the maiden voyage.

Yep, with My noble assistant's hard working help, and a little input from her mom, we got the tractor ready.

Out of the garage, and moved a hay bale to the horse's field and put the new tractor back in the garage to finish a couple other projects on it.

So here is a pic of the new tractor out back before we put the bale spike on it.

and sitting here in the kitchen with a bowl of Campbell's vegetable soup with crackers and we'll be back in the Ford's garage working on the other tractor.
