A salute to all our Veterans.

I take time this evening to remember those who have served their country.
Some gave all and haven't returned to family and friends.
Some gave all and came home broken, mental and/or physically.
Some tried to serve but limitations prevented them.

To all who have helped or tried to help this country become a free nation, I applaud you.

Take time tonight to remember Bill and Bob Lee who served in WWII, and Frank Lee who served in Korea. To Bob Jr who served in Vietnam, Jim who served in Germany because Bob was in Nam.

To all the families, your loved one is remembered.

May the fighting end soon and bring the troops home safely.

Happy Memorial Day.

A disabled American Veteran
who also proudly served.

Steph's Graduation Party

Yes fellow bloggers, I can finally say that our youngest daughter has graduated from that institution of higher learning.
Steph received dual degrees at the graduation ceremony, 5/22/10 from Missouri Southern State University, Joplin, MO.
Her Mother and I, along with her daughter and sister, are very proud that she persevered and graduated.
Degrees in Computer forensics an d other stuff like the CSI guys on TV have.

So to figure out a way to say thanks for getting thru college, the Barngoddess and I decided a party was in order......

My previous post shows how we prepared the meat for the smoker......
Here are a few pictures from the party.....

But before I go too far into partying.... I must take this time to thank my two younger sisters Mary and Carol, who sent Steph a watch for graduation..... what a gift, sounds simple, but Steph only wears it on special occasions... thanks again Mary and Carol.... may your life in Florida be long and rewarding and may you become the blue hair scrourge of the yhounger crowds.... thanks again....

so here are a few pictures from the party....

Casey, Steph and Derreck. Casey and Derreck are the two who helped shoot the cow, butcher it and then spend all night cooking it in the smoker... way to go guys.

This picture shows David and Sarah, Sarah graduated with Steph and is from St Louis, so she came buy to celebrate also. Sarah is heading for duty with the Coast Guard, and I am proud she is taking that step... way to go...

JEEP = forgot these pics

So the Jeep puts a note about my buddy Sam McGee on my last blog ramblings.

But alas, it is 70 here already today

Jeep - for you and the Long Roof, does my popper in my left hand look familiar....

My Noble Assistant has her 22 rifle and I only have a 16 guage made from Central Arms Company, St. Louis Mo that is older than the Long Roof.....

Enjoy the demise of these three critters who were trying to steal from the Barngoddess1 garden.

And of course here is My Noble Assistant and yours truly the Horsefarmer bringing home dinner..

That the Barngoddess1 refused to cook......

So yes, we borrowed a hole in the coals and stuffed them in.....

May 2, 2010 = What a day!!

Well I guess you are wondering what makes May 2, 2010 qualify to fit the description of "What a day". So I guess I will have to tell you so that LongRoofFan doesn't get all nervous and upset.

Today on the farm there was a house burning, well actually one house burned pretty much to the ground, while the other just smoldered a little bit.

Yep, yesterday was an on again off again day, that had rain and wind one hour, sunshine the next, and then back to gale force winds and more rain. In between I managed to clean out the stable ( been a long time since I've done that, and I will now do it more often, why? because when that s**t from the horses is packed in, it takes a rotor tiller to break it up to get removed)..

but I am straying from the reason for this blog.

After sitting up half the night waiting for rabbits to appear around the garden, I finally went to bed. Got up at 7:30 am today and looking at the garden over my first cup of java - those damned rabbits had attacked my corn again.

THAT'S IT...... no more mister nice guy..... get them rabbits. And so that is what caused the house burning .....

now don't think it was a small fire like this guy is playing with

NOPE, it was a good old fire, yep here are a couple pictures of the burn in progress.... That home to those fat rabbits was going to be nothing but ashes when I got done...

from the looks of this pile, oyou can tell that my Mother taught me how to make fires that really are interesting to watch...

actually this is the brush pile that was generated from the tornado clean up. It is also the backdrop the Jeep and the Kid use when visiting the farm, works greatas a backstop to their little rifles that need target practice. Will build something from all the dirt left as a result of the stumps ...

So sitting on my big deere, yes with coffee in hand, I watched that house burn to the ground..... well almost

Then it was off to the second house where some more of those furry critters hang out

but alas, five gallons of gasoline, mixed with 5 gallons of diesel, throw in some paper and some rather bad swabby words, well, I guess my ability to burn down things was lost on the fire above, because all I got this pile to do was smolder....

So that's what caused the house burning here on the farm, and along with a great garden coming in, we
