So it was a quiet Friday evening and the Barngoddess1 and I were sitting in the computer room reading blogs and playing Mahjong and other interesting things.... quiet end of hectic week , just some relaxation....... right.......... WRONG.
The Barngoddess1 calmly states that she thinks the island in our kitchen needs to change it's look and become more "country" appealing. So a casual conversation led us to the kitchen area and we discussed what was in mind. I could see a lot, and I mean a lot of work doing what she wanted. Old barn boards around the outside, a different counter top, and lower the top. Simple, yeah, ............... and she also says we need to paint the kitchen tooooo.......................
So the Little Princess, Barngoddess1 and I started a simple exploration of the structure of the island. No bad construction.
1. The counter top popped right off, the sheet rock walls easily came off and there stood our naked island bar.
2. Little Princess and I head to the most famous of places, Jimmy Johnson's sponsor, and spend a bundle on new lumber to make the bar look antique-ish.
3. The family spends Saturday afternoon and evening taking out and putting in new infrastructure for the new bar. (See how I learned these fancy words and someplace to put them in the text)
4. The Barngoddess1 and I are off to Lowe's again today to get the stain, poly-urethane, and electrical cable (she wants new plugs) and ground fault switches.
5. I will spend all weekend redoing the bar, and probably half of the week, as now our dining room will become the workshop for staining and depressing the wood. Living room makes way for dining room table.
6. I guess I won't watch the race this afternoon after all.........................
Sharks angel said she would take pictures so I can post them. So keep an eye on this site for later results.
have a good weekend and
